From the gripping True Detective series to the breakout hit Orange is the New Black, 2014 really has been a great year for TV viewers. With many TV series currently on hiatus, here’s our guide to some new and upcoming TV series to watch out for.
Gotham
An upcoming American superhero series is the highly anticipated Gotham. There has been much hype around this new series and several promising teaser trailers have been released over the past year. The series has been marketed as an origins story following the rise of police commissioner Jim Gordon, whose life takes an unexpected twist following his investigation into the deaths of the parents of a young Bruce Wayne. The series also tells the story of the origins of some of Batman’s most memorable villains and is scheduled to premiere in the UK this autumn.
Gracepoint
Fans of the ITV show Broadchurch may be interested to learn that an American version of the BAFTA award winning show, renamed Gracepoint, will soon be hitting our screens. Set to premier in the UK this Autumn, it is interesting to note that the series will retain original cast member David Tennant showing off his best American accent. Whilst American TV remakes arguably don’t have the best track record, it will be intriguing to see what this reinterpretation of the hit TV series has to offer.
The Affair
The Affair is a new drama series which explores the subject of infidelity and its consequences. The great cast alone is reason enough to watch this new drama, with British stars Dominic West (The Wire) and Ruth Wilson (Luther) taking on lead roles. Due to premier in the US in October, The Affair is definitely one to watch.
