You might remember a post we wrote at the beginning of the year that looked at some of the biggest movie tearjerkers. These are the films that make us cry for a solid two hours but then watch them again and again. Call us crazy, but who doesn’t love a good tearjerker?
We know you’ve been on the edge of your seat waiting for part two – so enjoy!
The Last Song
As soon we found out that this film is based on a book by Nicholas Sparks, we knew that we wouldn’t get through it with dry eyes – and we were right! Miley Cyrus plays a rebellious teenager who is forced to spend the summer with her estranged father. Although reluctant at first, she soon starts to have fun and even manages to find love. The tearjerker comes towards the end and we guarantee that you won’t be able to hold back the tears.
P.S I Love You
Hilary Swank plays a grieving widow, whose husband (Gerard Butler) has died of a brain tumour. On her 30th birthday, she receives a package from her late husband which sets her on a number of different adventures – teaching her how to remember him and live her life again. He arranged it all before he died, because he knew that she would never move on. Each letter that he leaves for her is signed with “Ps. I Love You” and we cried every single time. We are just crying thinking about it now!
A Walk To Remember
Another film based on a Nicholas Sparks novel (that man just loves to make us cry), A Walk To Remember follows two teenagers who come together after Landon (Shane West) is forced to do community service which involves helping out with the school play. He meets quiet and shy Jamie (Mandy Moore) who offers to help him learn his lines, as long as he promises not to fall in love with her. What follows is a lot of happy tears, and even more sad tears! Sob.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
This film just makes us cry by just thinking about it, so we advise you to be aware when watching it that you will cry – a lot. Set during world war two, the story is told through the eyes of an innocent eight year old, who moves to the countryside with his family after his dad gets a promotion. He soon realises that the people who he believes are wearing pyjamas in the fields, as actually Jews being kept in concentration camps. He befriends a young boy and what starts is a beautiful and devastating friendship.
We love a good tearjerker, and now we can’t wait to go grab a box of tissues and re-watch some of these classics.
