Wireless HDMI
Our last blog enlisted the HDMI cable, but what about the wireless equivalent? The wireless HDMI may mean you have to delve slightly deeper into your pocket, but it does make the whole transfer from your computer to your TV a lot more simple; plus you don’t have to have your computer sat next to your TV if you’ve only got a short HDMI cable. Using the WHDI standard, the HDMI signal is transmitted, as if by magic, to your TV screen; although you will have to make do with 1080p or less because the technology can’t currently handle 4K. Still… pretty cool though, right?
Airplay
AirPlay is the Apple streaming standard and has previously been more associated with music, although it has now expanded into photo and video streaming. You will need an Apple TV for this AirPlay to transmit (we know… we know…), utilising an app to transfer the media to any AirPlay devices within range. You can also mirror the screen of your phone, Mac or tablet, enabling you access to just about anything you put your mind to. As with all Apple-hoozeewotsits you will require Apple devices for this to work, but you probably guessed that already…
