It is difficult to choose a television in this day and age, and there is a lot of jargon that can bamboozle you or give you unrealistic expectations that will ultimately disappoint. At Cheap LED TVs, we have acquired an excellent reputation thanks to the quality of our cheap TVs. As a customer focused company, we aim to make your decision making easier. In this blog we will look into the differences between LCD, LED and Plasma TV sets, so you know what you are buying.
LED and LCDs
Out of LED, LCD and Plasma TVs, LEDs are the most recent, and may cost a little bit more compared to plasma and LCD. However, these sets are extremely popular because they are energy efficient and thin, so they will fit into your living room perfectly. LEDs have light emitting diodes (LED) which illuminate the screen; it is because of this that LED TVs are extremely thin.
Liquid crystal display (or LCD) sets work when light from behind the screen shines through coloured liquid crystal cells. They are extremely similar to LEDs, the main difference being that LEDs have light emitting diodes. It is because of this that LED TVs are much slimmer (and slightly more expensive).
Plasma
Whereas LED and LCD sets are similar, the plasma television is significantly different in terms of technology. Inside these sets there is an array of gas cells sandwiched between two sheets of glass. Each of the gas cells emits ultraviolet light; these cells make red, green and blue spots on the screen, which builds up the picture.
Although the LED, LCD and Plasma sets all produce breathtaking picture quality, many film buffs with a home-cinema claim that Plasma TVs produce more natural colours than other sets, which makes for a more complete film experience. That’s not to say that LED and LCD don’t have their plaudits; because they do. For example, LED sets are extremely stylish and can save your living room a significant amount of space. LCDs may not be quite as popular as LED sets, but they are a great cost effective alternative.
