With TV show reboots being announced left right and centre, it’s not surprising that people are now daring to dream that their favourite show might be next on the comeback list. With shows such as The X-Files and Gilmore Girls being rebooted years after they ended, it’s left us wondering about what will be brought back next?
Netflix has become well known for rebooting old favourites and saving shows that are nearing cancellation on their normal TV network. Therefore it’s not beyond a stretch of the imagination that they could very well reboot one of your all time favourite shows in the future.
Which would you love to see make a comeback? Here are our top 3 choices!
Pushing Daisies
What is it?
Pushing Daises is a charming show that is seriously underrated. The plot followed a pie maker, Ned, who discovers that he has the ability to bring people back to life by touching them. Well, he can bring them back to life for all of one minute before his touch renders the person dead again. Ned revives his childhood sweetheart, and together they team up to solve various murder mysterious that have been impossible to solve. The two have insane chemistry but he’s unable to touch her, as this would kill her.
Why do we want it back?
The show had a mixture of everything. It had comedy, drama, horror and romance. There are so many stories left to tell – it could have easily gone on for another few seasons.
It was also one of the most visually beautiful TV shows that we have every watched. Some of the images were breathtakingly beautiful with lots of colour!
Firefly
What is it?
From the genius mind of Joss Whedon, Firefly is a show that has a huge fanbase following. The plot follows a former galactic war veteran who is now a captain of a transport ship called Serenity. Set in the year 2517, the show follows the lives of a group of people who fought on the wrong side of the civil war and are now struggling to survive any way that they can.
Why do we want it back?
Everyone who watched Firefly wants it back! Although fans were given a little taste of revival with the 2005 film Serenity, they are still hankering a fully fledged TV revival. Whilst Joss might be a little busy with his Marvel gig, surely it can be squeezed in somewhere?
Deadwood
What is it?
Considering the show won 8 Emmys and 1 Golden Globe, it was a little bit of a shock when the show ended after just 3 seasons in 2006. It was actually the creator David Milch who decided to end the show, after the network wanted to change the format and number of episodes.
The plot followed a town in South Dakota in the 1800s; Deadwood. The town is full of crime and corruption. We’re introduced to a number of characters, all attempting to make a living for themselves – honest and not.
Why do we want it back?
We’re kind of cheating with this one because a script was actually commissioned in January. However, there is no guarantee that the show will be picked up or that it will be exactly like the show we loved so much!
We also feel pretty cheated out of the two TV films we were promised after cancellation – they never happened!
