Sporting Events to Look Forward to This Summer

Here at Cheap LED TVs, it is well known that we are passionate about television technology, and we also have more than a passing interest on what programmes are coming up. The sporting calendar for the summer of 2014 looks particular exciting, which is why we will be looking into some televised events that you should keep your diary free for.

World Cup (12^th June – 13^th July)

The countdown has begun to this incredible football spectacle. You can’t ask for more, an exotic Brazil setting with sun, sound and Cristiano Ronaldo. The tie of the group stages is surely England v Italy that will take place on June 14^th. Expectations for England might not be as high as previous years, but their youthful exuberance could take them surprisingly far.

Wimbledon (23^rd June – 6^th July)

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is perhaps the most celebrated. It has been held in the All England Club since 1877.  Who can forgot last year’s tournament when Andy Murray won the championship? This year’s tournament should be an exciting affair with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka all chasing Wimbledon glory. Get your strawberries and cream ready, it’s going to be a thrilling spectacle.

Tour de France (July 5^th – July 27^th)

The 101st edition of the Tour de France will see Chris Froome attempt to defend his title against the likes of Alberto Contador and Vincenzo Nibali. The Tour de France is one of the greatest sagas in sport and lasts over three straight weeks. It’s well worth watching, just to see the cyclists battle through the famed Alpe d’Huez climb.
