The Walt Disney Company and Pixar Animation Studios have collaborated to make some of the best animated films in history, which are enjoyed by the whole family.
Here at Cheap LED TVs, we love great movies. Here are just some of our favourites that Disney Pixar has created.
Toy Story (1995)
Toy Story captured the imagination of children and adults alike, and answered the age-old question: what do our toys do when we leave the room?
The film tells the story of Andy’s toys, focusing mainly on Woody, a cowboy doll, and Andy’s newest toy, spaceman Buzz Lightyear. The film humorously depicts the reactions of Andy’s toys when he receives his birthday presents, with many fearing that they’ll be ‘replaced’. Follow the toys on a captivating journey like you’ve never seen before, and prepare for some laughs, as well as some emotional moments.
The franchise was continued with Toy Story 2 (1999) and Toy Story 3 (2010), both of which were extremely successful. Recently, Disney Pixar announced that Toy Story 4 was in development, and is expected to be released in 2017. The story was also continued over a series of shorts, which pick up the story from where Toy Story 3 left off.
Toy Story has since become one of Disney’s most lucrative franchises, with fancy dress costumes, real-life toys and more available from Disney Stores worldwide.
Up (2009)
Up received massive critical acclaim when it was released, although it does feature one of the saddest beginnings you’ll ever see in a film primarily targeted at children.
The film depicts the story of Carl, an elderly man who lives alone in a quaint cottage surrounded by the modern cityscape. In a last ditch attempt to reach the wondrous Paradise Falls, Carl uses thousands of helium balloons to fly his house all the way to South America, alongside Wilderness Explorer Russell and loveable dog Dug.
This film was also made into three shorts, which animators named UPisodes. These were released prior to the theatrical release of the film on iTunes and YouTube, and created a lot of hype about the movie itself.
The Incredibles (2004)
Disney Pixar took a new spin on classic superhero movies when it brought us The Incredibles. The widely-successful film brought some comedy and family-friendliness to the genre.
The film tells the tale of a family of superheroes, set 15 years after Helen and Bob Parr, also known as Elastigirl and Mr Incredible, had to relocate and retire from superhero work. It shows how the family adjusts to suburban life with their superheroes, as well as how their powers can be used to cause mischief in school and at work.
The film was a huge success, and fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation that a sequel would be released for over 10 years. Much to their excitement, Disney Pixar recently announced that The Incredibles 2 was in active development and would be released in summer 2016.
Finding Nemo (2003)
In this film, Disney Pixar took us under the sea in a journey that truly showed the love a father can have for his son, as well as being a huge success in the box office.
Widowed Marlin, a clownfish, is extremely protective of his only child, Nemo, following the death of his wife, and even tries to prevent him from attending school. However, Marlin’s worst fears are soon realised when Nemo is abducted. We join Marlin and his friend Dory, who suffers from short-term memory loss, on a journey across the ocean, battling sharks, jellyfish and other strange creatures, in their search for Nemo..
Finding Nemo was an unprecedented success, and the second-highest grossing film of 2003. A sequel under the name Finding Dory is currently in production, scheduled to be released in summer 2016.
Ratatouille (2007)
Ratatouille was extremely well-received when it was released in 2007, and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature amongst other awards.
The film tells the story of Remy, a rat with a flair for cooking, and Linguini, a hopelessly unsuccessful kitchen garbage boy. The two soon become friends and close allies after Remy runs away from his rat colony, and Remy enables Linguini to soon become a chef at the famous restaurant Gusteau’s, under the watchful eye of Skinner.
This film is extremely enjoyable to watch, and although a sequel has not been announced, Ratatouille is still a highly lucrative franchise, even having its own themed ride at Disneyland Paris.
