It seems the next-gen (or current-gen, as it technically should be called) has taken games developers by surprise. Week after week we get news of yet another awesome game that’s been pushed back by developers. But if you’ve picked up either an Xbox One or PS4, you can relax. There are plenty of games out there already.
Minecraft
It’s the biggest game on the planet, with around 10 million users on PC and the previous generation of consoles. And now it’s available to buy on the PS4 and Xbox One. Don’t expect too much of a graphical update – although the map is bigger – it’s the game-play that counts. It’s possible to spend hours on Minecraft building, well, pretty much anything you can think of in this virtual Lego-style game.
Dead Rising 3
A launch title for the Xbox One, Dead Rising 3 is a colossal open-world zombie-killing game. Ever wanted to cut through the undead with a light-sabre or run them down in a steam-roller motorbike? This is the game for you. The story’s ok, it’s well-acted and the graphics are so good you can see the pores of the skin, but it’s pretty much secondary to hacking, slashing and building wild combo weapons all while dressed in a suit of armour.
Destiny
From the makers of the insanely good Halo series comes Destiny. The game is described as a mythic science fiction game that blends massively multiplayer online RPG elements with the more straight-forward first-person shooter. Oh, and it’s pretty much the most expensive game ever made. And despite Sony treating the game as a first-party exclusive, it is available on all platforms. So game on!
